Hej
NATIONAL RECONCILIATION
'No payment to Blair'
The Sunday Nation
Bangkok: -- Former British prime minister Tony Blair has not been paid to take part in Thailand's political reform forum, according to his spokesman.
The UK-based Guardian reported yesterday that an unnamed spokesman for Blair said he was delighted to accept the Thai government's invitation to the forum "in support of the Thai government's ongoing peace and reconciliation initiatives".
"Tony Blair is very happy to help in whatever way he can. This is being done on an entirely pro bono basis; there is no fee and there never was," the spokesman was quoted as saying.
Thai government figures earlier denied media reports that the ex-UK premier was paid Bt20 million to contribute to the reform forum proposed recently by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
