Arrest warrant for Chakrapob for alleged storing of war weapons

The Military Court on Friday night issued a warrant for the arrest of former Prime Minister’s Office Minister Chakrapob Penkair and four accomplices for alleged involvement in stockpiling war weapons.
Pol Gen Somyos Poompanmuang, national deputy police chief, said today that that police investigation had shown that Mr Chakrapob, secretary of the Organisation of Free Thais for Human Rights and Democracy, an exiled anti-coup movement recently set up, was linked to the war weapons and other firearms recently seized from several locations by police and the army troops.
He said that Mr Chakrapob was already facing an arrest warrant on lese majeste charge but attempt to have him extradited from abroad to face trial in Thailand was not possible because there is no lese majeste law in countries where the fugitive have taken refuge.
However, he pointed out that possessing war weapons is universally recognized as a crime and police would try to have Mr Chakrapob extradited to face the charge if it can be determined where he has taken refuge.
The national deputy police chief disclosed that it was reported that the fugitive was in Hong Kong.
