Pheu Thai's likely prime ministerial candidate Yingluck Shinawatra insisted yesterday that she had never floated the idea of amending Section 112 of the Criminal Code which deals with lese majeste legislation.
Ms Yingluck said she had no expertise in lese majeste law and her comment on the issue was simply addressing a question involving it.
"They asked me about it. So I said it was a sensitive issue and needed to be discussed by specialists. I have no opinions about the matter," she said.
Ms Yingluck said that as far as she was concerned, the lese majeste law should not be misused.
She added that she had no plan to review the constitution either, saying the Pheu Thai-led government's priority was national reconciliation and relieving economic hardship.
