Det har bara kosmetisk betydelse och ändrar ingenting i sak, han var landets ledare och militären kuppade bort honom eftersom dom visste att han skulle ha vunnit nästa val, precis samma som med Yingluck och kuppen 2014.

Ja jag tycker att dom som klagar på att vi som gillar att diskutera politik och politisk historia ofta gör detta utan koppling till ämnet i tråden delvis har rätt i sin kritik, det finns mycket att diskutera även i nutid och man bör nog försöka hålla sig till ämnet om man kan.

Tydligen lämnade Red Bull sonen landet tre dagar före det att arresteringsordern utfärdades. Polis på flygplatsen var maktlösa och kunde inte gripa honom utan var tvingade att låta honom fly landet eftersom ingen order om att gripa honom fanns vid utresetillfället.

Vorayuth Yoovidhya was arrested at his family home in Bangkok on Sept. 3, 2012. He later left the country for Singapore and repeatedly ignored summonses from the prosecutors. 

 

Bangkok — The scion of an energy drink empire wanted for a fatal hit-and-run left the country just three days before a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said Tuesday.

Without the warrant, an immigration police commander said they were powerless to stop Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, 32, from leaving the country, despite him being a suspect in a fatal car crash five years ago that made him the poster child for injustice in the kingdom.

“There was no request from the prosecutors to detain him,” Maj. Gen. Natthorn Prosunthorn said. “Immigration can only stop someone from traveling if there are requests from state agencies, or if there were court warrants. We had neither.”

Vorayuth left the country on his private jet seven days ago on April 25, reportedly bound for Celestar Airport in Singapore, Natthorn said. Police applied for and obtained a warrant on Friday, three days after his departure.

Asked whether it was right to allow a suspect who’s repeatedly evaded summonses from prosecutors to leave, Natthorn said to do otherwise would have infringed on Vorayuth’s rights.

“If we stopped him, it would have violated his constitutional right to travel,” the commander said.

The authorities said they would taken action after public rage reignited yet again in late March, after the Associated Press caught up with Vorayuth at a residence in a posh London neighborhood where he drives a Porsche Carrera with license plates “B055 RBR,” or Boss Red Bull Racing, a name he uses on social media.

The report called attention to the life of luxury he has led since causing the death of Thonglor police Sgt. Maj. Wichian Klanprasert in 2012 when Vorayuth slammed into his motorcycle on Sukhumvit Road, dragging his body from his Ferrari for some distance before fleeing the scene.

Vorayuth’s lawyers have said the officer swerved unexpectedly in front of his sports car, a claim forensic examiners disputed.

Men "Boss" kommer ju ha svårt att återvända till Thailand om inte familjen utnyttjar sina politiska och poliskontakter till max för att lösa situationen?

 

Någon uppgift om vart han begav sig? Ska han hålla sig undan en internationell arresteringsorder så måste han välja ett land med en lite lösare syn på rättvisa, typ Dubai...

Det verkar som om han flög till Singapore, men förmodligen for han väl vidare därifrån.

Man kan ju ha förståelse för flygplats polisens frustration över att inte kunna ingripa när han flydde p.g.a polischefer och åklagares 5 åriga tvekan till att utfärda en arresteringsorder.

Boss är garanterat kvar i Thailand, kopplar av i sitt hus. Precis som Taksin. Precis som om de inte kan betala sig ur vad som helst? Inte fan behöver de hålla på och flyga till dubai och singapore. Tror att detta fenomen kommer att börja dyka upp i sverige också efterhand som vi "globaliseras" och "mångkulturifieras".

 

Hade däremot Boss råkat köra ihjäl en person från en annan rik familj hade det däremot blivit problematiskt........

Thai police struggle to locate Red Bull heir

Thai police said today that they were trying to locate Red Bull heir Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, who reportedly fled to Singapore on his private jet two days before a warrant was issued for him over a fatal hit-and-run in 2012.

After years of dodging prosecutors, 32-year-old billionaire Vorayuth has become a poster child for the impunity enjoyed by elites in starkly unequal Thailand.

Authorities finally issued an arrest warrant for the scion last week after he failed to make a final deadline to meet prosecutors — nearly five years after he sped off after mowing down and killing a policeman with his Ferrari in downtown Bangkok.

But Vorayuth, known by his nickname “Boss,” slipped out of the country just days before the warrant was issued, according to police. 

“First we have to locate him and then we have to go from there. If we can’t locate him then we can’t do the next step,” Deputy National Police Spokesman Col. Krissana Pattanacharoen told AFP.

Wanted Red Bull heir has left Singapore after abandoning private jet

 

Bangkok (Reuters) - An heir to the Red Bull fortune wanted in Thailand for his alleged involvement in a deadly hit-and-run has left Singapore after abandoning his private jet and disappeared, Thai police said on Thursday.

 

Vorayuth "Boss" Yoovidhya left Thailand for Singapore on April 25, two days before he had been ordered to report to prosecutors to be formally charged in court, police said.

 

He faces charges of speeding, hit-and-run and reckless driving causing death over an incident in 2012 when he allegedly crashed his Ferrari into a policeman on a motorcycle in Bangkok and fled the scene, dragging the officer's body for several dozen meters with his car as he did so.

 

It was the eighth time he has missed a summons since legal proceedings against him began in 2016.

 

The case is being closely watched in Thailand where it has fuelled complaints that the justice system favours the rich and famous, allowing them to break the law with impunity.

 

Police said Vorayuth had travelled to Singapore on his private jet and stayed there for two days.

 

"Vorayuth left Singapore on April 27. The private jet he arrived in is still there," senior police official Apichat Suriboonya, who heads Thailand's Interpol bureau, told Reuters.

 

"We have no further details."

 

Apichat said his team was working with Singapore police to try to determine where Vorayuth had gone. Singapore police confirmed he had left the city state and said they would do what they could to help their Thai colleagues.

 

A Thai court issued an arrest warrant for Vorayuth last Friday and police said they had asked the Foreign Ministry to revoke his passport. The ministry said it would do so as quickly as possible.

 

"Having his passport revoked will pressure Vorayuth to travel back to Thailand, as no country would allow him to enter without it," another senior police official, Sarawut Detsri, told Reuters.

 

Vorayuth is a grandson of the late Chaleo Yoovidhya, creator of the Kratin Daeng, or red bull, energy drink.

 

Chaleo, 88, was listed as the third richest person in Thailand at the time of his death in 2012, with an estimated net worth of US$5 billion, according to Forbes magazine.

 

Vorayuth has spent much of the past five years abroad, including in London, where his family owns a home, and Singapore, according to social media posts.

 

He has previously cited work commitments abroad as a reason for not showing up in court.
