1) Lack of Good girls: We may act like rough and tough men solely in search of the next “bang,” but deep down we’re all looking for some real companionship. Well there isn’t much unpaid companionship going on in Pattaya and you’re probably not going to meet the girl of your dreams here unless you want to go “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and wipe her past out of your memories.
2) The reputation: Call me crazy but it’s nice to be able to tell people where you live or go for a holiday. Pattaya is one of the only places in the entire world where you really have to give that a second thought.
3) The heat: So that close proximity and walking distance thing is sort of a double edged sword. It’s very humid at night in Pattaya during some seasons, like uncomfortably so. Sometimes you feel like you need a shower before you even get to your first bar. It’s not that Bangkok is any less hot at night, but in Bangkok you’re probably not walking quite as much as you can just take taxis directly to your destinations.
4) Walking Street can be annoying: I like many of the places on Walking Street, a lot, however I’m not a big fan of walking from end to end on Walking Street. It’s definitely interesting the first few times you do it, but after that it becomes a hot, crowded and loud chore. With so much of the nightlife attached to this street, it’s hard to avoid it’s pitfalls.
5) There’s only so much solicitation you can take: It’s not really a compliment when a girl calls you over because she wants you to buy her a drink and pay her for sex. The girls mean well and they might even be attracted to you, but after a few not so great looking girls and a couple of lady boys start chasing you around sometimes you want to run for cover.

The 10 Best things about Pattaya Nightlife:
1) Close proximity: Bangkok has more options but its also much more spread out. Most of what you can do in Pattaya is confined to an area within walking distance or at the very least a 10 baht “baht bus” ride.
2) Late Night Action: Some of the night clubs in Pattaya are open as late as any in the country, including Mixx and Insomnia. On weekends you’ll find something to do until the sun comes up.
3) Prices: While prices are going up in Pattaya for girls, you’ll still find very reasonable prices at restaurants and in hotels. There are also no cover charges to get into any clubs in Pattaya. Food, lodging, and taxi’s often take up a huge chunk of vacation spending, and in Pattaya you really won’t spend much in those areas if you’re the least bit cautious.
4) The play for play scene: It looms over the city’s reputation like a dark cloud, and yet more and more people visit each year. In other words, it’s a draw! Per person or per sq. km, Pattaya will give any city in the world a battle on available working girls. There are a ton of bar girls and there are a ton of hot dancers; to me that’s a good thing.
5) Restaurants: I have never heard anyone complain about the food choices in Pattaya and with the amount of chronic complainers in the world that really says something. Pattaya has fine dining options, Western food, buffets, and traditional Thai restaurants all over the city. You usually get a lot for your money and the intense competition really puts pressure on restaurants to offer quality.
6) You know what you’re getting: In some other cities you can drive yourself crazy wondering whether a girl you just met is a prostitute or not, but in Pattaya at least you know the answer is probably yes. To me there is some comfort in that. You know what’s what and if you don’t like it you don’t have to come.
7) The Beach: Any discussion about beaches in Pattaya usually leans negative, especially online. But I think it’s easier to be a glass half full kind of guy regarding this topic. If you want a nice beach to swim in you can take a ferry that costs one U.S. dollar to Koh Larn. And once the sun starts going down the beach actually looks quite nice. There are some killer views early in the night at a slew of places you can eat and drink at.
8) Fun Factor: With no high society scene or big spending traps, Pattaya seems to always deliver on fun. We undervalue this attribute for whatever reason. But it’s a luxury to know that you can have a blast almost any night you go out without having to spend big or get all dressed up. If you know how to have a good time Pattaya is like Disney Land for men.
9) It’s really easy to make friends in Pattaya: I’m not even talking about if you live in Pattaya. Even if you come to Pattaya alone, you’ll easily find someone to hit the bars and GoGo’s with. Yes there are some loud mouth obnoxious people in Pattaya, but there’s a ton of great guys visiting and living in Pattaya to party with, and that goes for all ages.
10) Options: In a relatively small space you have so much to do including: night markets, multiple movie theatres and bowling alleys. And there are obviously more restaurants, bars, and GoGo’s than you could count. You’re not going to get bored in Pattaya!
