Bangkok, 29 March 2016: Thai Smile will increase flights on the Bangkok (SWB)-Udon Thani route from four to five daily starting 1 April.
The airline’s market share is improving on the route demanding additional capacity.
Using a 174-seat Airbus A320, the flights are popular with tourists heading for Laos as the domestic fare is lower than fares on international flights serving Vientiane, around 100 km north of Udon.
Udon Thani is just 80 km from the border checkpoint at Nong Khai, making the airport the closest to the border. From the border, tourists travel overland to Vientiane and Luang Prabang.
*Additional flights start 1 April
The airline’s lowest one-way fare from Bangkok to Udon Thani is THB1,080. Fare includes taxes and fees.
In comparison, Nok Air sells an inclusive one-way fare ex-Bangkok (DMK) to Udon Thani at THB999, Thai Lion Air at THB1,025, and Thai AirAsia at THB1,050. Thai AirAsia is the only airline charging for checked baggage.
