SIX years after escaping captivity, a massive crocodile was found in an abandoned shrimp farm in the Surat Thani province, weighing in at a whopping 300 kilograms.
The huge reptile was spotted by the shrimp farm’s owner who reported the sighting to the Provincial Fisheries Office in the Phunphin district. Members of the local media apparently rushed to the scene after hearing about the report.

According to Thailand’s National News Bureau, the owner and three others said they discovered the crocodile when they were dredging the deserted 5-rai shrimp farm for fishing.

The group claimed they captured the animal as it tried to climb out of the pond, before informing the authorities.
The crocodile is said to measure an estimated 3.5 meters in length and officials believe it was between seven and nine years old.
The animal was also said to have escaped captivity during a flood in 2011. Officials also observed that the reptile appeared to be familiar with humans.
