Watch out for meteor shower on the night of December 14

The highly anticipated Geminid Shower is expected to send up to 100 meteors per hour crisscrossing the sky, according to NASA.
The National Astronomical Research Institute has arranged for three venues in Chiang Mai, Chachoengsao and Nakhon Ratchasima where members of the public can observe the celestial spectacle free of charge.
In Chiang Mai, the observation venue is located at Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai’s Chom Thong district whereas in Nakhon Ratchasima, the venue is at the observatory on the campus of Suranaree Technology University. In Chachoengsao, the observatory in Plaeng Yao district is chosen as the site of the star gazing event.
Starting from 8.30 pm until dawn of the next morning, the shooting stars can be seen in the night sky throughout the country provided that the sky is clear and cloudless, said the institute.

Då får vi hoppas ingen får något hårt i huvudet.

Annars kan det tydligen vara ganska lukrativt att samla meteoriter:

Meteorite prices vary from one source to another. Unclassified stone chondrites picked up by nomads wandering in the Sahara Deserts are readily available for about $0.50/gram. Attractive stones from the Gao-Guenie witnessed fall (Burkina Faso, Africa, March 5, 1960) can be purchased for about $1.50/gram and a top quality one-kilogram specimen of the Campo del Cielo iron meteorite from Chaco Province, Argentina can be yours for about $400. 

At the high end of the pricing scale are unusual types such as the diogenite Tatahouine (fell June 27, 1931, Foum Tatahouine, Tunisia). A prime specimen will easily fetch $50/gram while rare examples of lunar and Martian meteorites may sell for $1,000/gram or more — almost forty times the current price of gold!

Japp, var ute en stund nyss. Fick se en meteor med en

riktigt präktig eldsvans. En bit utanför Korat.

Var ute och kikade (sisaket) såg inte ett jäkla skit förutom dom vanliga stjärnorna. Kanske tittade åt fel håll eller nåt men inte var det mycket att se i alla fall.

Här i Rawai har det regnat som fan en stund, men bara vatten, inga rymdstenar.

Frugan och jag bäddade i trädgården med en flaska vin,  hon såg 30 fall jag såg 10 var väl mer koncentrerad på vinet. Hur som helst vackert var det. 

Brukar ju typiskt nog vara mulet när det händer nåt häftigt rymdfenomen.

Själv försov jag mig  , händer nästan aldrig men naturligtvis just då. 

Du missade inte nåt - inte av det jag såg i alla fall. Några stjärnor som vägrade falla och det var liksom det hela.
