Gen. Paiboon Koomchaya sa att ha en monarki som Thailand var "unik och civiliserad", vilket gör det nödvändigt att ha artikel 112, eller lese majestätsbrott.,

FOLLOWING recent international pressure to amend, or even abolish, Thailand’s lèse majesté law, its Justice Minister has hit back at critics, saying other countries did not understand the law’s necessity as they lacked “civilization, sensitivity, and gentleness.”
Gen. Paiboon Koomchaya said that in having a monarchy, Thailand was “unique and civilized”, making it necessary to have Article 112, or the lèse majesté law, reported Prachatai English.
“They don’t have 70 years [of the King’s reign] like us. They don’t. They don’t have civilization, sensitivity, and the gentleness that we have received; tell them this,” said Paiboon, in an interview with Bluesky Channel on Wednesday.

In Geneva, Switzerland, the United Nations held its Universal Periodic Review (UPR). During the review, leaders from many countries expressed their concerns with the government’s use of the lèse majesté law.
