BURIRAM -- A video clip of politician-turned-football club owner Newin Chidchob reprimanding two male youths who refused to fight in a boxing ring after they were caught in a fist fight at a local Songkran fair has gone viral.The video was posted on YouTube on Sunday and began circulating on other social media sites on Monday.
It was recorded by a reveller who attended a Songkran event held in front of the i-Mobile Stadium, the home stadium of Buriram United Football Club, of which Mr Newin is president, in Muang district of the northeastern province.
In the video clip, Mr Newin is seen standing by the boxing ring rope, looking at two young men in boxing outfits who were in the middle of the ring stage.
The ring and boxing gear were arranged by Muang Buriram police station and a local private firm so that any youngsters who were engaged in arguments and fights at the fair could vent their anger on stage instead of ruining the mood of Songkran and causing trouble for others.
